Spirituality, Ancestors, Gestalt Art Therapy

The Tzicuri, also known as God's eye, is a traditional spiritual and artistic object originating from the Huichol (Wixáritari) culture of Mexico. The Huichol people consider the Tzicuri as a sacred symbol with deep philosophical and spiritual significance. Creating and contemplating God's eyes can have emotional and therapeutic benefits for participants.

What can you experience in this workshop:

• Spiritual Connection: The Tzicuri holds immense spiritual importance in Huichol culture. It is believed to have protective and healing properties, as well as the ability to act as a communication channel with the divine. Engaging with this sacred symbol fosters a sense of spiritual connection and purpose.
• Meditation and Focus: Crafting a God's eye requires concentration and focus, making it an excellent meditative practice. When a participant weaves the yarn around the wooden sticks, they can enter a state of flow, which promotes relaxation and stress reduction.
• Symbolism and Intention: Each element of the Tzicuri has symbolic significance, such as the four points representing the elements (earth, air, fire, water) or the center representing the eye of God. Create these symbols, you can imbue the object with intentions, wishes, or prayers, providing a sense of empowerment and purpose.
• Healing and Emotional Expression: For the Huichol people, God's eyes are associated with healing rituals and ceremonies. Engaging in the creation or contemplation of a Tzicuri can act as a form of emotional expression and release, allowing individuals to process their emotions and find solace.
• Mindfulness and Grounding: The process of weaving the yarn around the sticks requires attention to detail and mindfulness. This act of creation can help individuals stay present at the moment, promoting a sense of grounding and centering.

• Connection to Ancestors: Through the practice of creating God's eyes, individuals may feel a sense of connection to their ancestors and the wisdom of past generations. This connection can offer comfort and a broader perspective on life.
• Symbol of Protection: In Huichol tradition, God's eyes are often hung in homes or sacred spaces as a symbol of protection and to ward off negative energies. The presence of the Tzicuri can create a safe and harmonious environment.
• Ritual and Ceremonial Significance: Engaging in the creation or use of God's eyes can be part of personal rituals or ceremonies, providing structure and meaning to one's life and fostering a sense of continuity and tradition.

This will be a "hands-on" workshop, where the "process" will be the most interesting. The "how" will be more important than the "what" or "why".

The final result is not the objective, although you will be surprised at what you can create and, above all, integrate into your "here and now"

Covid Requirements

Following the Australian Government Health Department's indications and with the objective of offering a safe space for all patients and Counsellors:

Every participant before being admitted to each Face-to-face session/ workshop:

• Before each workshop/ session temperature measures will be taken. If the participant has symptoms like fever (37°C or more), coughing, sore throat, or shortness of breath, unfortunately, he/she will not be admitted to the event/ session, and the session will be rescheduled.

Participants must be 18 years old or more.

Important information from Government:

Testing positive for COVID-19

Any person who tests positive for COVID-19 will need to immediately isolate at home or other suitable accommodation for at least 4 full days from the date the person had their test. Follow the advice from Queensland Health, including the first steps to take if you have COVID-19.
